What home brewer hasn’t had thoughts of a small brewery that made them a good living while working at something that was a lot of fun and had an end product of beer?

Blue Chair Brewing seemed like a natural name for our homebrewing operation. Since brewing is a “hurry up and wait” situation, there is always a need for a chair to sit in and take a break. The old blue painted chair that flollowed us to Georgia from Alabama was the natural choice. It sits in the garage, rarely used unless brewing in the driveway. Since we seem to move around quite a bit, we needed a name that could follow us too. The name did not exactly jump out at us. But over time, the one thing that was always there was the blue chair.

Home brewing is a joy. It takes a lot of work and quite a bit of time. Circumstances such as the outside temperature affect brewing too. Not a lot of brewing takes place in the heat of Georgia summers, but come Spring or Fall, it is an enjoyable thing to do on a weekend. In additon to my computer science degree, I also have a degree in graphic design. So, it is always fun to come up with a name for a specific beer and design a label for it. I will always be a novice at brewing beer because there is always something new to learn and put into practice. I’ve found that there are numerous experts that seem to know about everything there is to know about brewing. So, I leave all the answers to them. I’ll just continue brewing good beer and enjoying it with friends.

Don’t expect flavored beers with lemons, raspberries, and orange peels in Blue Chair Brewing beers. I like the German philosophy of Grain, Hops, and Yeast. I want to be able to continue to craft my beer to remain pure beer. I will leave all of fancy brewing to those people who seem to know much more about it than I do. When it comes to brewing, your gear is never clean enough, your water never just right, or the temperature exactly where you want it. It takes time, experience, and patience to execute one more desperate attempt at the perfect beer- which, of course, does not really exist. Taste is intrinsic and opinionated. How could there ever be a perfect beer?
